The marine flora of the South Island, New Zealand is rich and diverse. The University of Otago is ideally situated for studying seaweeds, with globally unique, pristine rocky shores within 20 km of our laboratory. The exciting phycological research ongoing in the Botany Department, University of Otago is highlighted on this web site, along with links to our main collaborators.

A new Doubtful Sound '08 section of the web site has been added to collect and collate information about our recent workshop in Fiordland. Major announcements will be made on the main page, while material such as completed data sets, graphs, manuscripts and video will be available for download in a dedicated section.
